Recreating the sport and rally cars that the young and young at heart will always dream about, Best Model brings back the days when men such as Mario Andretti and Steve McQueen raced at Le Mans, Sebring, Daytona, Watkins Glen, and other legendary tracks. Hand painted and assembled from dozens of parts by skilled Italian craftsmen, each 1:43 scale, die cast racer has a fully-equipped cockpit with a steering wheel and dashboard, four-point seat belt, fire extinguisher, roll bar, and other performance driving equipment; photo-etched metal wheels with the intricacy and finish of the originals; fully replicated paint and decals with the vivid colors you remember; and more. The only thing more amazing than the cars themselves is the racing history they represent!
While the original Porsche 908 was introduced in 1968 as a closed coupe for fast tracks, the car was raced from 1969 onward mostly as the 908/02, this open spyder that, without a roof or the original’s long fins, was more than 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Though it had teething problems in its first couple races, the 908/02 quickly found its footing, winning at Brands Hatch, Targa Florio, Spa, and Nurburgring, where it placed 1-2-3-4-5 and secured the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile’s (FIA’s) 1969 International Championship for Makes.
